The awesome Japanese rock star duo VAMPS is back in the US! VAMPS, formed by Hyde from L'Arc-en-Ciel and K.A.Z from Oblivion Dust, are currently on a world tour. They will be performing at House of Blues in Hollywood tomorrow night (12/4). We are honored to be able to get an exclusive interview with them.

How did you come up with the name VAMPS?
- I’ve always liked vampires, as well as the sound of the word, so I wanted to use “vampires” somehow for our band name.

What’s your favorite American food?
- Carls Jr. and The Apple Pan! (K.A.Z.) Protein style burger from In-N-Out. I eat them daily when I’m here. (Hyde)

VAMPS’ international debut album, “Sex, Blood, Rock N’ Roll” is now out all over the world. Tell us about this album.
- This album might be like a best of collection of our previous releases, but we changed our lyrics to be in English and re-recorded them for our international fans.

What aspects of Japanese culture do you want American people to know the most?
- Japanese people are easily mistaken for being shy, but I think we are just good at reading the atmosphere and trying to understand others. We sometimes don’t speak up or take action because we care about others around us. During the disaster in Japan 2 years ago, Japanese people made a huge line for food without any fights breaking out even though everyone was starving. This is because we know that if we did make any selfish moves that could lead to a fight it would cause trouble for the other people there, so we know to just be patient just wait. I think this is the Japanese culture that we are proud of so I don’t want non-Japanese people to think that we are emotionless or just shy.

So you are having a show tomorrow. What do you want your American fans to pay attention to the most?
- K.A.Z.’s sexy finger moves while playing his guitar! (Hyde) It’s been a while to play a show in Los Angeles and I’m sure many people who have never seen us will be there too. I just want them to enjoy our live show to the fullest! (K.A.Z.)

Finally please give a message to your American fans!
- I want to try my best to make Japanese rock to become popular in America, just like how ramen has been spreading all over Los Angeles right now! (Hyde) Please go easy on us. Haha If you come see our show, I’m sure you will be amazed, so I really hope I will see a lot of people there tomorrow!!
